Senglea Athletic won their first point of the campaign as they shared the spoils with Pieta` Hotspurs in a 1-1 draw.
Senglea created the first opportunity of the match after five minutes. Roman Tchanturia hit a low shot that was neutralised by Nicky Vella.
Pieta` replied on the 15th minute. Paul Chimezie went on a good run before firing a shot that was blocked by Matthew Farrugia.
However, Chimezie managed to send Pieta` ahead a minute later. Jan Busuttil delivered a cross towards the Nigerian forward who headed the ball home.
Farrugia had to be on the alert to deny pieta` on the 27th minute. Nicholas Pisani drilled a shot that was parried for a corner by Senglea’s custodian.
On the other end, Matias Garcia sent a shot which was saved by Nicky Vella in two attempts.
The newly promoted side were unlucky not to score again one minute prior to half-time. Busuttil saw his shot hitting the woodwork with Farrugia completely beaten.
On the 56th minute, Ferdinando Salvati’s effort from a free-kick forced a good save from Vella.
The post denied Pieta` again on the 70th minute. Chimezia managed to beat Farrugia; however, his shot stamped off the post.
Pieta` paid harshly for losing these opportunities as Senglea scored the equalising goal on the 83rd minute. Salvati’s thumping shot from a free-kick gave Vella no chance.
